Airspace questions

Practical Exam - Airspace Questions

In all practical examinations, the candidate is asked a question about the airspace before the second flight. This is considered flight preparation, analogous to the 5-point check for the first flight. If you are not sure about airspace, discuss this with your instructor before the exam!

Procedure

On the first flight, the candidate is required to complete the 5 pt check under Flight Preparation.

During the second flight the candidate is asked the airspace question. If he cannot answer this correctly in all points, he will be asked a second question. If the candidate cannot answer this question correctly in all points, the point Flight Preparation is negative (the candidate can still score a maximum of one point in this flight). In this case, the candidate will be asked another question in the third flight. If he cannot answer this question correctly in all points, he will be asked another question - if he cannot answer either of these questions correctly in all points, the point Flight Preparation is negative and therefore the  practical exam is failed..

Exam question

The examiner asks a question about the current flying area they are in or indicates any point on the gliding map:

  1. Which airspace classes are there; resp.where am I allowed to fly?
  2. If flying is allowed, what rules apply with regard to:
  • maximum flight altitude
  • minimum cloud distances
  • minimum visibility
